DeltaV Process Control Lab Configuration, Documentation, Graphics, and Chart Files

The DeltaV version 10.3 modules and named sets are in the zipped *Configuration download. The installation, screen prints, and user guide pdf files are in the zipped *Documentation download. The operator graphics and process history trend charts are in the zipped *Graphics-Charts download. The following is an overview in the user guide.

Overview

The labs are designed to be run from operator graphic screens (PDF preview) so the user does not need to get into DeltaV control studio. This makes the labs fast and easy to use independent of DeltaV configuration knowledge opening up the labs to technicians, process engineers, and students. The user can change PID structure and options on the fly without a download.

Automated tests and metrics are setup to capture the current and best performance. The use of labs for process control improvement was demonstrated in a series of 12 Deminars at http://modelingandcontrol.com/archives/deminars/ recorded by Greg McMillan and Jim Cahill. The DeltaV composite template library modules can also be used by DeltaV users for other purposes.

These library modules provide online metrics for setpoint changes and load disturbances, bang-bang logic for the fastest possible setpoint response, and generic simulations to give an incredibly rich spectrum of dynamic response possibilities of actuators, valves, processes, and sensors. The *-Screens.pdf file shows the operator screens and the *-Installation.pdf file provides instructions for a DeltaV Simulate standalone laptop installation.
