DVC6200 and DVC6200SIS with or without SOV

Greetings,

We are looking for ways to optimize our design and reduce the total cost of installation. During our design review I remember that it is possible to use the DVC itself to operate an on/off valve without a SOV.

How often do you see the DVC6200/DVC6200SIS used as "standalone" without an SOV? I understand that the SOV can be use as a 1oo2 type of arrangement but what if I don't need that voting?

For valves that require a fast open/close, is a quick exhaust necessary if I am using single-acting spring return actuators if I use the DVC without a SOV?

Regards.

  • DVC6200 SIS or DVC6200 standalone can be used for On-Off applications. If any On-Off valve is part of SIF loop than DVC6200 SIS is certified as standalone instrument for safety loop.
If faster stroking speed is required, it is possible to use external device like volume booster to meet stroking speed requirement.
Though SOV pneumatically in series to DVC provides option to take valve to safe state by both devices (DVC & SOV) but if SIL budget does not need pneumatic redundancy than DVC alone can be used.
If DVC6200 SIS is used than in future, we will have high capacity relay in built in DVC to meet stroking speed requirements, which will not require external pneumatic devices such as volume booster.
    Hope this helps.
