Thermowell/RTD

HI

I am wondering what hapenns to an installed  thermowell & RTD if the fluid temperature exceeds the sensor temperature range? does it get damaged or just not read the temperature?

    Operating a process in higher temperatures than the systems components are rated for is a risk. Sensor and thermowell design, component material, and mounting style all contribute to determining the safe operating temperature range. A higher process temperature could add a host of undesirable conditions that can lead to potential thermowell or sensor failure.
