Improving Terminal Operations and Efficiency

Terminals are instrumental in the supply chain for holding moving oil and petrochemical products. An oil depot or tank farm:

…typically has tankage, either above ground or underground, and gantries (framework) for the discharge of products into road tankers or other vehicles (such as barges) or pipelines.

An animated, non-narrated 5:13 YouTube video, Take Control of your Tank Farm, shows how tank gauging systems, tank management, flow metering, terminal automation and logistics solutions come together to help improve terminal efficiency, reliability and safety.

For critical safety instrumented functions, Rosemount 5900S radar level gauges and 2410 tank hubs are certified for use in applications up to safety integrity level (SIL) 3. They also provide emulation capability to modernize existing radar gauges for improved accuracy and performance. For installations where wired infrastructure is not in place and difficult to add, wireless tank gauges are available.

Watch the video to see more about how improved measurement impacts efficiency, safety, accuracy and overall terminal operations. Fair warning, the animation includes quick climbs up and down tank stairways, so look away if you’re feeling the motion too much! Don’t worry though, the calming music will sooth you.
