MD PLUS Electronic Marshalling Licensing DeltaV 14.3.1

Greetings all,

As part of an extension project, I need to connect a new CIOC to an existing MD PLUS redundant controller. What licenses do I need to purchase in order to integrate the new field instruments? Is there a specific license for the CIOC and the CHARMS? Should I purchase new control licenses (DI, DO, AI , AO software) that cover the old and new DSTs together or keep the old ones and add control licenses for the extra DSTs?

Is there a document that can help me choose the appropriate licenses?

Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas.

  • There is no special license required for your CIOC, you only need to buy DI,DO, AI and AO licenses for the new signals if you do not have any spares left. Note that a CIOC can only communicate with a MDplus controller when you are on version 14.3 or higher. A CIOC will increase your controller load, so please check your controller loading.
  • As Pieter mentioned already the version of the DeltaV Software and the firmware of the MD+ CTRL is an important point.
Special CIOC-licences are not needed. Just be sure to have enough system-control- and DST-licences in the propper manner available.
