Graphic Studio Error = Failed to open the database

Hi,

I have created a new DeltaV Live database using a backup file. When I opened DeltaV live, it shows running graphics. However, when I tried to open graphic studio, it shows an unhandled error.

Please suggest how do I resolve this issue.

Thanks,

Darshana

  • There are so many variables to investigate and the number of forum members familiar with Live is relatively small. Your best bet is to log a call with the GSC. That said, what version are you on? Is it the same version as your backup? Backups are intended for recovery on the same version they were made. If you have exports of you work, you can recover these into a new database.

If you do not have exports and only the database backup, you need to make sure your installation version matches.

As for investigating this further, the GSC is able to view the associated logs and are your best chance to move this forward quickly.

    Thank you for responding.
I think, I know the problem. The associated deltav database didn't restore correctly which was needed for graphics studio to open. The deltav database was left as active database. After I created a new database (blank), I could open graphics studio for the restored deltav live. I thought, deltav database and deltav live database are independent since they have separate administration tools. But looks like graphic studio connects them both somehow.

Thanks for the observation. I would not have thought that the DeltaV Database would require a rebuild by recovering a DeltaV Live database, if both were on the same Pro Plus. That is interesting. DeltaV Live does have a browser for DeltaV tags, but this is no different than Operate browsing DeltaV tags.

But I just launched Graphic Studio and observed that it makes a connection to the DeltaV Database upon launch. But why it should care what Database is connected or its contend is curious to me. I'll need to verify exactly what backups and recovery procedures are needed for my system.
