M-Series Serial Card Configuration

So I have installed an M-Series Serial Card series 2  in DeltaV 13.3 system.  We have multiple configurations that use this similar setup so we are well versed in the configuration so that is what has me stumped.

Serial Card Configuration:

Port 1 Configured as

Enabled

Master

485 half duplex,

19200 8-N-1

all other settings default.

I do the full configure on port 1 and then download the I/O controller,  the moment we do with no wiring we get a solid amber light (indicating a connection) on port 1.

If we do wire it as per BOL, terminals 2/4 , we are not able to communicate to the end device. No light changes

****

I put a different configuration (for a known working configuration) on the controller assign the serial port no amber light until connection to plc and it will communicate the same PLC.

I am stumped if I do the same configuration to Port 2 I get the same result of no communication/solid amber light

    Thanks Dominick
I had reached out and this problem stumped them also. We did end up resolving it on our own but multiple tests.
BOL states that the port port light will be lit when connected to end device (in my case a rs485 slave) unlit when disconnected and flashing when no communication..

This was incorrect in our case
The port light is on when configured as a master even if it is not wired to anything.
It seems that once connected and using a single dataset for testing you are able to communicate but the slave device will not indicate communication. Port light will stay on and not change for anything except loss of powwer.
When you configure the correct # of datasets the end device needs, once connected the two together both ends seem to resolve something status light work as they should. you can disconect the cable and the port light will go out. reconnect and it turns back on and resumes communcation.

Oddly frustrating and 2 days of troubleshooting

    But completed..

Is the firmware rev the same for the card you are having an issue with and the others you are using for comparison?
