AD/DC grounding in control enclosures

Hello,

Do DeltaV enclosures with AC and DC power sources need separate grounds for each source? In my setup, the AC source powers two power supplies - both are grounded to the enclosure on their AC side. The two two-wide carries along with three industrial network switches are grounded to the backplane of the enclosure. Is that common?

I have seen the DeltaV controls grounded to isolated ground bars - an earth rail mounted via two plastic bushings to the backplane. Does the isolated ground bar need to be grounded, too? If yes, do the DC ground bars have same reference as AC?

  • Dmitriy,

There is a new DeltaV Power and Grounding document available that can be found on the Guardian support page. It replaces the old site preparation guide and quick start guide for DeltaV power and grounding. It shows alternative power and grounding options and the rational behind the power and grounding philosophy so users with different requirement for availability and system integrity can choose their best option.

I suggest you download this guide and let us know if you have any further questions.

    Best regards,
    Rune

Can someone please supply the reference# for the power and grounding document -
searching for grounding or power and grounding in Guardian yields a bewildering quantity of documents..
I have D800053X012 "Quick Start Guide" , but not sure that's the latest..

    Thanks

    Thanks Dmitriy -
that's the Document ID# I saved 3 years ago, and I cannot find a date or revision log in it.
  • In reply to SimHogan:

I downloaded the document with this reference number from the Guardian website last Friday. January 2018 is on the title page.
