Venturi Basic Flow Meassurement

Hello,

I need some help meassuring  the basic Flow using a Venturi, i cant find a function block in the Control Studio to perform this task. The only block that i find was the AGA    but this block is only design to calculate the flow of gases through orifice and turbine meters.  i will be thankful if anybody can help me with this problem.

  • In principle the venturi is just a jazzy (higher recovery) orifice plate. For ours we use an AI block to convert the measured DP / take a square root and convert to mass flow or volumetric flow units, per the sizing calculation for the venturi. Then we use an ARTHM block for pressure & temperature compensation. Books Online has a good explanation for how to use the ARTHM block for P&T compensation.

The 3051S has a mass flow option also - you just enter the venturi parameters and it will output a flow. Configuring the 3051S would have to be done at the factory or you can do it on site if you have AMS with the "Engineering Assistant" snap-on software.

Our configuration also has a composite block template for P&T compensation that we have used.
