Alarm Help Question.

Can someone tell me what will happen after the "Time to Respond" expires, when you have this enabled in the Alarm Help? What is the benefit of having this selected?

  • Nothing happens. I see it as a way to aid the reader to understand how the priority may have been assigned. The consequence of concern is also displayed.
  • In reply to John Rezabek:

While nothing does happen, time to respond counts down in Alarm Help until the time expires, after which it turns from green to red. Also, Alarm Help presents the total elapsed time since the alarm became active. Presumably the author of the Alarm Help (perhaps a rationalization team) took process reaction time into account when they prescribed the operator actions necessary to avert the consequence of inaction. Thus the operator has a more complete understanding of the situation, knowing what the remaining window of opportunity is for the prescribed action to be successful.
