Connecting a wireless thumb to AMS

I am new in connecting wireless device to AMS. I guess my company already set up a wireless network because I can see other wireless thumbs showing up on AMS. I just installed a thumb on a device in the field and I was hoping it will show up under the wireless network like the other ones that has already been installed. Can someone guide me through how to add this new thumb into tis wireless network?

Typically AMS device manager is set up to communicate to the various device sources, such as Wireless Gateways, Multiplexers, DeltaV Systems etc. The existing devices in AMS are communicating through one of these nodes, so I'm assuming a wireless gateway. The Gateway has a Web Interface to allow you to login and setup the gateway which includes defining the join key and gateway ID. Once the device is provisioned and is communicating with the gateway, you will be able to see it in the Gateway Web page. If that is working, the gateway and device are working and now you can go to AMS DM where you would be able to view the Network and select the Gateway to which you provisioned the device.

At this point, think you can scan the gateway for the new device, if it does not show up automatically. AMS DM provides two ways to access the device: through the network architecture and by assigning the device to the folder structure. So once the device is seen in the network view, you can assign it to a folder where you would like to access it from, The folders allow you to group various devices from different nodes in a logical format rather than their physical connection path.

So if it is provisioned, it should be under the gateway in the network, (or you need to refresh the node in AMS DM to scan the new device) and then you can assign it.
