Industrial Cloud and Edge – A Balancing Act Cloud solutions are no longer unchartered territory for industrial end-users. IT organizations have successfully transitioned on-premise solutions to the cloud for years and have realized the ROI that justifies further action in other spaces, namely OT. OT cloud solutions have some of the same requirements as IT, but the cybersecurity implications of moving data from the plant network to the cloud necessitates additional scrutiny and on-going support. Additional conversations around Private vs. Public Cloud will help land on the appropriate deployment. It is also important to determine what functionality needs to live on the Edge, in the plant, where real-time insights need to be actioned to have the highest positive impact.
