WirelessHART Not Affected By WPA2 Security Vulnerability

Recently a security vulnerability that affects WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access) has been reported. WPA2 is a technology used to secure Wi-Fi connections. This security vulnerability is getting a significant amount of coverage in the press (link) and is being referred to as the KRACK vulnerability.

It is important to understand that this security vulnerability only affects Wi-Fi. WirelessHART and Wi-Fi are completely different technologies, and because WirelessHART does not use WPA2, WirelessHART products are not affected in any way. In the coming days, a tech note with more details about this vulnerability, as well as differences between Wi-Fi and WirelessHART, will be made available.
