Session Abstract:
19 week US based training program gives Kuwaiti Maintenance Engineers competency to lead key technology areas. Closes skills gap caused by ageing workforce & young engineers being qualified in computing & electrical disciplines rather than instrumentation. First, 8 Instrument Maintenance Engineers were evaluated against KOC’s internal Competency Model. Second, a training program was designed based upon KOC’s installed base of technology including turbine & compressor 3rd control parties. The program comprised 60% hands-on work, factory visits, before & after testing plus real-world examples from KOC’s own P&IDs. Success factors & lessons learned are shared.
