Method for Accelerated Start Up of Steam Turbines Facing Today’s Power Industries Requirements

Session Abstract:

The structure of European power generation is changing. To balance strongly fluctuating renewable sources with consumer needs & secure grid stability are challenges.  Steam turbines play important role in production of electricity. One steam turbine may generate more than 500 wind power plants. Also, small turbines, e.g. biomass power plants, make an important contribution. To take account of these increasing requirements on controllability, fast availability & reliability Emerson customer Skoda Power & turbine monitoring partner Profess developed a method to optimise critical start up of steam turbines based upon vibration monitoring.
