Session Abstract:
Refiner Orlen Lietuva modernised 2 large process units over 24 months & 1 turnaround. Emerson had the MAC contract & was responsible for the FEED, automation & electrical works, supervision of the local contractors while the Orlen Lietuva team coordinated other disciplines & overall turnaround execution. Change from a pneumatic to a modern automation is always tough. Faced with short schedule & budget constraints 400 temperature points at the FCC including the heart of the FCC reactor were replaced with wirelessHART transmitters. (~20% of instruments on the FCC). Project details & lessons learned are shared.
