Session Abstract
Natural gas wells often have their production extended by the installation of a plunger lift. This requires at-wellhead control, consisting of casing pressure, tubing pressure and a plunger arrival sensor. These inputs are sent to a control system, which drives the well's control valve. This presentation looks at the use of wireless sensor networks (WSN) on Statoil offshore facilities on the Norwegian continental shelf, and on-going qualification programmes for approving WSN for control loops and immediate action.
