Session Abstract
Technical components like PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA-Systems (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and Industrial PCs used in automation environments and process industry are nowadays usually connected to industrial networks. Due to that these systems are exposed to network attacks and malware. In 2010 the Stuxnet worm was discovered after he infected tens of thousands PCs in order to insert malicious code into industrial controllers. Conventional security approaches used in the office IT often do not fit to the special requirements of industrial environments. This presentation provides information about typical security threads to industrial networks and exhibits security measures and strategies of protection.
