Tips for Next Week's Emerson Exchange

I received a great email from one of the Emerson Exchange board members with some tips I wanted to pass along. Do you have any to share?

A few tips for Emerson Exchange:

  • On the Emerson Exchange Website www.emersonexchange.org there is a link to a scheduler tool.  It will help you organize your schedule and get the most out of Exchange.  The really nice part of the scheduler is that you can export it to your Outlook calendar.  If you go to your “My Schedule” link from your personal schedule, there is a button just above the calendar for “Export”.  On the Export page, click on iCal and then export.  From your Outlook calendar go to File/import an iCalendar (.ics).  Brouse to your file.  Open it as an “Import” to integrate it with you regular calendar information.

  • There is also a new mobile app for your iPhones and iPads: http://goo.gl/p9qvx  You can use this in addition to or in lieu of the calendar import.  It’s a link to the Active Events website that provides the host software for Exchange.   The really nice part of this website is that it will be updated during the conference.  Any room changes or deletions will automatically be updated on your schedule.  There is also a tool for chatting among other attendees.

  • I’ve attached a listing of the Best in Conference for each track.  They are sorted by track (SIS, Instruments, etc). These are selected by the track mentors.  The mentors have reviewed the PowerPoint’s for all of the presentations in each track.  Always a good place to start if you’re not sure what to go to.  These are highlighted in yellow in the pocket guide you will receive at registration.

  • I’ve attached a copy of the Pocket Guide.  It’s handy to look at as you are figuring out your schedule.  No need to print out since you’ll get at copy at registration.

  • I’ve attached a spreadsheet with all of the sessions at Exchange.  If you have a focused interest, I’ve found it handy to start here as you are sorting out what to attend.  It also speeds up using the scheduler if you already have your courses selected.
