Do you have a workstation or domain enviroment?

Check that the folder that you are going to read have sharing rights.

This is a workstation enviroment and the deltaVHistory folders where my data sets are all shared.

  • In reply to jaym_DA:

Check that you have all the users in the appstation as you do in the Prostation.

    Try to download the workstation.

Might be that you are missing some user/rights that you would need to connect to the database?

I checked and all the users on the proplus station are on the Apstation. I then put DeltaV Reporter on the APStation and tried it from there. And i basically got the same message.

I downloaded to the ap station and setup data to the pro plus.

The DeltaV Reporter user scheduling reports must have access to the Scheduled Tasks folder (C:\Windows\Tasks, by default).

To use DeltaV Reporter from a non-DeltaV workstation in a domain, a two-way trust relationship must be configured between the DeltaV domain and the domain of the non-DeltaV workstation using remote access.

By default, Excel as a COM object can only be activated by the Administrator, System, or Interactive accounts. Therefore, it is possible that a scheduled report will fail to run correctly under the following conditions:

    • You configure a scheduled report using a different user account than the one currently logged on. 0 comments
    • You configure a scheduled report to run unattended, at a time when the user specified in the Run as field of the Scheduled Report Properties dialog of DeltaV Reporter is not logged on.

To prevent this possibility, complete the following steps to edit the DCOM configuration settings for the Microsoft Excel Application object: 0 comments

    1. Use Control Panel to open Component Services in Administrative Tools.
    2. In the console tree of the Component Services administrative tool, select Component Services/Computers/My Computer/DCOM Config.
    3. In the list COM+ server applications, right-click Microsoft Excel Application, and click Properties on the shortcut menu. 0 comments
    4. On the Security tab of the Microsoft Excel Application Properties dialog, select Customize in the Launch and Activation Permissions group, and then click Edit.
    5. In the Launch Permissions dialog, add the DeltaV Reporter user who needs to configure scheduled reports, and then enable the Local Launch and Local Activation permissions for this user.
    6. Return to the Security tab of the Microsoft Excel Application Properties dialog, select Customize in the Access Permissions group, and then click Edit.
    7. In the Access Permissions dialog, add the DeltaV Reporter user who needs to configure scheduled reports, and then enable the Local Access permissions for this user.
    8. Return to the Microsoft Excel Application Properties dialog, select the Identity tab, and then enable the following option: The launching user.

For a scheduled report to run successfully on a DeltaV or non-DeltaV workstation, the user specified in the Run as field of the Scheduled Report Properties dialog of DeltaV Reporter must be logged on, either locally or remotely through a connected or disconnected session, at the time the Task Scheduler attempts to execute the scheduled report task.

The DeltaV Reporter user scheduling reports must be included in the User Rights Assignment list of users with the Log on as a batch job policy. To check this setting, use Control Panel to open the Local Security Policy settings window, and then select Local Policies/User Rights Assignment in the console tree.

I just got the same error recently. Any ideas if this error is coming from DeltaV Reporter or Excel? I tried the above recommendation but still no luck. Thanks

  • In reply to Sisla:

Hello.. I am having the same issue. I am new DeltaV. Can someone help me to resolve this issue?
    Thank you very much.
  • In reply to Harish Kannan:

I have researched this error message and based on other users with the same issue, it seems that the fix for their problem was the uninstall and reinstall of the required items in a certain order. Here is a process that solved other users similar problem.

Uninstall .NET Framework 2.0 and all of its associated components, DeltaV Reporter, Continuous Historian Excel Add-in, in that order. Then reinstall the items in the order that is shown in Books Online insuring that the .NET Programmability Support is installed first.

A reboot of the machine will probably be required after completion of the reinstallation.

If you still can't get it to work, you should log a call with Global Support Center at http://guardian.emersonprocess.com or http://www.emersonprocess.com/systems/support

    Dear Matt,

    Thanks for the reply.

The solution which you are giving is to be done with the client PC if I am not wrong.
We have many sites across the region. In my case, I can connect to the DeltaV historian in other country but I could not connect to the system in my region.
Can the same username and password used for different DeltaV system???
Also, the historian system in my region is not a server class machine. It is normal desktop Windows XP SP2..

    Regards,
    Harish.
  • In reply to Harish Kannan:

    Harish,

Yes you can use the same Username and password on the different systems as long as the username exists and the password is the same on both systems.

You would have to confirm if you can login to both systems using the same account and password to determine if this is possible for you.

    Regards,
    Matt
  • In reply to Matt Stoner:

    Dear Matt,

I gave a try to what you said but none worked out.
But somehow managed to solve the issue now. We can just create a local user account in the application station with user name and password matching the non deltaV user account. This resolves the issue. Now the reporter is working good.

Thank you for sharing your views on this.

    Regards,
    Harish.
