What can women in STEM learn from a refugee turned community leader? LOTS!

For the second time in as many days, I found myself reading about Lewston, Maine; a community that has a population of former African refugees (mostly from Somalia and Kenya) that now comprises 1/6 of the town's population.  That's a pretty big number in a state that is not exactly known for racial diversity. (Trust me on that one....I grew up there!)  You can read about the story of the first ever high school champion soccer team at www.oneteamfilm.com but the story that compelled me to write this post was that of ZamZam Mohamud.  A natural leader, this woman can teach us all some critical lessons about the importance of relationships, connections, and community. Definitely worth the read.
