What will be the right organizational structure for PLC and DCS team

Dear Experts of Control System?

In our plant we have DCS team who is responsible for DeltaV DCS. We are planning to have PLC team who is responsible for PLC. What would be best structure for those 2 teams? Should be those 2 team together as a one team or it should be different teams? What are the pros and cons of each structure?

Best Regards,

Badraa

  • My thinking would be to have a single automation team as more than likely the DCS and PLC systems will need to communicate with each other and would be easier to deal with when changes/additions are required if in a single team with a single manager. I have also seen alot of times the "automation team" is a single person supporting both or an individual has skills/knowledge in both DCS and PLC.
