Leo, Yes you must download the Logic Solver SIF's together (total download). This can be up to 4 SIF's.
What happens during the download depends on how the SIF is programmed, what the changes are. It is not recommended to download SIF's with the Safety Function in service. Typically, for safety systems, you must validate the SIF after a change before it is returned to service.
DeltaV Security privileges (keys) must be assigned to the user making chagnes and performing downloads to SIFs. The SIF's are downloaded as a complete script to the logic solver, so you cannot download just one SIF. The Download will change the Configuration CRC and this is a trigger to validate the SIF prior to returning to service on a safety application. The SIF will begin executing upon download.
As to what the download can affect, that depends on the configuration and the change in logic of the particular download. A simple SIF could simply run without disruption of the process. A complex SIF with sequences that are in progress might reset the sequence and find itself in an unexepcted branch of logic.
I would not recommend changing SIF logic while the SIF is in service and the process running.
