VIM1 vs VIM2

Hi all, 

I have redundant VIM1 cards installed with redundant MD controllers , I was wondering if it's possible to replace these VIM with spare VIM2 cards. If yes is it possible to replace one VIM1  card with VIM2 and leave the second redundant card as VIM1
