Emerson’s Tim Olsen received the great news that he had been selected as a recipient of the AIChE Fuels and Petrochemicals Division Award for 2022. Each year, this division recognizes individuals who have made substantial technological contributions to the advancement of fuels and petrochemicals industries. Tim will be the guest speaker at the Fuels and Petrochemicals Division Annual Awards Dinner held during the AIChE Spring Meeting on Monday, April 11th.
Tim has a long history in the downstream hydrocarbon industry, going back to the 1990s as a technical advisor for UOP. He advanced to the chief technical advisor for refinery startups writing standard operating procedures, training operators, and other commissioning activities.
He joined Emerson in the late 1990s as a refinery consultant to perform optimization consulting and other project and operational services. Tim has also been a very active member of AIChE. He has served on the board of directors, chairing industry sessions and presenting at AIChE conferences, and serving in various chairman roles for the Fuels and Petrochemicals Division and Executive Programming Committee.

He is now a business development engineer for alarm management and dynamic rationalization, state-based control, advanced process control and optimization, Lambda loop/system tuning, control room conceptual design, operator workload, advanced operator displays, and simulation.
