Rosemount 708 wireless Acoustic Transmitter

Hello,

We are studing in our Fertilizers plant to use the Rosemount 708 wireless Acoustic Transmitter to detect Steam and Gaz leakage from steam traps and safety valves.

The question is that we noticed from the Ordering information that the Maximum size of mounting hardware is to be mounted to a nominal pipe size of 10-in, so is there any possibility to mount the device on a larger size pipe in case of the device must be mounted on a pipeline?

and is there a possibility to mount the device on the safety valve's body itself ? and if YES , where is the best spot to mount it on the body?

Another question was about mounting the device on a high temperature process pipelines, the mounting hardware was found also the maximum pipe size is 1 1/4 in, is there any possibility to mount it on larger size?

Thanks in advance ,

Ahmed Elsayed

  • Ahmed,

We mount the 708's on lines as small as ¾" / nominally 25 mm OD. You might have to procure your own hose clamp (s). For safety valves we have been mounting them to the inlet and outlet piping.

I am not familiar with the high temperature version.

    Hope this helps,
    John
  • For larger sizes than 10 inches, many customers will just put multiple hose clamps together to make the connection, but as John suggested, you could just provide your own hose clamp and not have to do this.

For the high temperature option, it is limited to the one size because of the bolt that we are using with the bracket to ensure the heat dissipation. Here is a link to the data sheet, you can see how it works in Figure 2. www.emerson.com/.../00813-0100-4708-data.pdf

The best place to mount the Rosemount 708 is within 6 inches of the equipment that is being monitored. You could theoretically mount it on the valve itself, but you would want to ensure good contact. Please let me know other questions you have and how I can help.
