Personnel Location Awareness for Safer Operations

Location awareness technologies helps manufacturers and producers improve personnel safety at their facilities. This short 2:13 YouTube video, Introduction to Location Awareness, shows how Emerson’s Location Awareness solution can keep personnel safe through the digital transformation of safety practices and systems.

Key uses for this location awareness solution are safety mustering, geofencing and personnel safety alerts. People with the wireless tracking devices can be detected within 5-10 meters in designated locations.

Battery-operated WirelessHART anchors define the locations and personnel wear rechargeable, wearable tags. The tags communicate to the anchors with which they are proximate. These anchors communicate through wireless access points and WirelessHART gateways to software and control systems for notification and action.

Geofencing provides the ability to set zones around hazardous or restricted areas. Unauthorized tags trigger customizable alarms.

Safety mustering enables the establishment of emergency gathering points. The personnel tags automatically check in, providing relevant-time personnel updates.

Safety alerts pinpoint personnel location in case of an emergency or injury. This enables emergency responders to be quickly dispatched to address the situation.
