  • DEP ,
a security feature can help prevent damage to your computer from viruses and security threats.

    disable DEP

in windows 7 type cmd in start search right click on search results ' cmd' click on run
then copy paste the following and hit enter :

    bcdedit.exe/set {current} nx Alwaysoff
    then cmd off.

    and for Enabling :

    bcdedit.exe/set {current}nx Alwayson

I always hate seeing time sensitive support issues logged on this forum rather than via the GSC. I can understand someone reaching out to any support source as they struggle with a problem, especially one where the Pro Plus is down and configuration changes or downloads cannot be performed.

With this community, many will jump in and provide advice with the best of intentions, but often without fully understanding the issue. And often the advice results in some lost leaders that end up wasting time or make matters worse. Is it really appropriate to disable DEP on these computers based on the information provided?

I think this call was actually logged with the GSC and they were able to assist the user to restore the operation of the workstations. It turns out the DeltaVAdmin account was locked out, which explains why the DeltaV services failed to start. The GSC engineer worked through the issues, including how to set up DEP and explained various aspects of this application.

Lesson: If you have a product issue, please log your call with the GSC or your local Emerson Service provider. They will have access to the entire call tracking database and will likely have a solution if the issue was previously encountered and logged. If you do post to these forums, be cautious in proceeding with recommendations so as not to make matters worse. it can end up complicating the resolution, or in this case, the user might have thought to leave DEP disabled to avoid this issue in the future.

If this is a different occurrence of this issue that was not logged to the GSC, please contact them as they know how to resolve this.
