Using DeltaV V14 to send a DO signal to the dry contacts of a Rosemount 702DX42 wireless transmitter over a Rosemount 1410S wireless gateway.

I am trying to determine if I can indeed use the dry output contact capability on a 702DX42 Rosemount wireless transmitter (across the 1410S Rosemount Gateway) from  DeltaV to pulse an open command on a remote entrance gate. (24v)

I have heard:

"yes", "no" and " I am not sure".

Anyone?

  • I don't have that particular model of 702 to test that it actually works, but all of my research points to it's possible. Here are a few things that you will probably find helpful. The block you would use in DeltaV is a SHDO - Smart HART Discrete Output. It appears the block was added in v13, so it should be available for you in v14. There is a bit of lag with wireless, though it should be possible to get it to just a few seconds assuming that you have a good network design. You'll have to evaluate whether the lag is acceptable for your application.

This is an access gate at the edge of the facility. (In range) absolutely no issue with lag. If I cannot find a “loaner” I may have to beg forgiveness and purchase it quietly.
