VMWare Converter Standalone

I have a physical ProPlus version 15 running on a Dell with Windows Server 2022. An attempt was made to create a virtualized copy using the VMWare Converter Standalone tool. After installation of the converter tool, DeltaV services will no longer run at all. I can't get any DeltaV program (such as workstation configuration) to run. Even after rebooting, the services will not start.

Short of uninstalling and reinstalling the DeltaV program entirely, is there anything else that can be checked. I think the service that everything seems to be dependent on is the DeltaV API Broker service. This will not start even manually.

I have tried installing this VMWare converter tool on a separate sacrificial machine and the result is the same.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • It maybe a problem with network adapters. DeltaV service needs connected network ports.
In the VM settings I usually have 3 network adaptors, 2 for DeltaV, 1 to access the host. The 2 DeltaV adapters can be set to 'host-only' or put in a separate VM VLAN, i.e. vmnet0. The other one configure as NAT.

In the VM you can configure the 2 DeltaV names and IP's to: DeltaV Pri at 10.4.0.6 and DeltaV Sec at 10.8.0.6. Subnetmask 255.254.0.0. If you get an error message about the IP's already being in use, try the following. In Device Manager in the view menu select 'show hidden devices' and look for old network adapters and delete them. VMware converter virtualizes the physical NICs, but disables them because virtual NICs are used in the VM.

If the DeltaV network cards show a connected state, then DeltaV service should start. If it works then run workstation config.
