VIM with Ethernet/IP connect to Connection Point/Assembly/etc.

Hello!

We have a DeltaV 13.3 system and use a simplex VIM to connect to Allen-Bradley PLCs in our plant. The VIM is using the Ethernet/IP driver firmware. I've been tasked with connecting to a device that has connection information of Connection Point, Assembly, Instance, and Attribute. I've seen from the documentation that you can use this information with the Generic Ethernet/IP firmware, but I'm not sure if you can use the Ethernet/IP firmware we have to connect to those type of devices (generic Class 1, Class 3, etc.).

Am I missing something, or would I have to change the firmware in order to make this type of connection?  If so, it may be simpler to put a PLC between the device and the VIM and transfer data that way.

Let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks!

Bryan
