DeltaV CIOC Firmware Version (SwRev & HwRev)

Team, this is urgent please.

We have existing system with DeltaV Version 11.3. The exsiting CIOC Assemblies has SwRev of 11.3.1 & HwRev of 8.7. Unfortunately, the new CIOC Assembly provided by the Vendor has SwRev of 13.3.1 & HwRev of 8.100. We already tried to downgrade the SwRev of the new CIOC (13.3.1) but didn't work. When we download the control module to the New CIOC, the PIT doesn't show any value in the control module & in HMI. The CIOC Assembly status is bad in diagnostic, and yes, in the Diagnostic, the value of the PIT is showing.

Please support, this is urgent.

Kindly provide more information what didn't work. Did WinUpgrade throw an error?

The screens shots of the exisitng and new CIOC Assemblies and the DeltaV Controller Upgrade Utility are provided in the attached word file. When we tried to down grade new CIOC Firmware from (SwRev of 13.3.1 & HwRev of 8.100) TO (SwRev of 11.3.1 & HwRev of 8.7) the Controller Upgrade Utility give error. "<ERROE: medai incompatible with target hw - UG_INCOMPATIBLE_TARGET>".

The part number of the Exisitng CIOC Assembly is "12P4987X062 REV G" and part number of New CIOC Assembly is "12P4987X182 REV Y".

(Note: the Vendor said that the newly provided CIOC Assembly is compatible with the existing one as per the datasheet).

Do you have the latest hotfixes installed on your DeltaV system? There were some EOL components in the CIOC's that had to be replaced. These were made compatible with hotfixes for older versions of DeltaV. Please see KBA NK-2000-0312 for details of the issue. The hotfix needs to be installed on the machine that is doing the flashing and it can be found in that KBA.

If you are not current on guardian support since this is an old version, there is an unrestricted hotfix that can be distributed. Your local office or impact partner should be able to get it for you with no issues by looking up the KBA.

Also, it goes without saying, but I strongly encourage you to plan an upgrade to your system as version 11 is ancient in terms of hotfixes and security updates.

  • Do you have new CIOC2's? If so, then you may have a compatibility issue - CIOC2's are only compatible with v13.3.x and above (with the relevant hotfixes).
