Left mouse click problem

Dear Engineers,

we are facing a random problem with Left Mouse click.

We have an access to a customer DelatV System over Team viwer.

We access to a server where DV Virtual Studio is running and we open a session to ProPlus.

That works fine, but sometimes only the left mouse click is not working anymore... remote, over team-viewer or direct on site.

If somebody knows a trick to avoid, to have to reboot the ProPlus.

Thank you

Have a nice week end

  • I had same issue when sharing screen of proplus with vendor. no resolution for this case rather to restart the server.

I used tightVNC instead of rdp or console from dvs station
  • It seems that the issue is not related to DeltaV/Emerson software but rather an issue with the Mouse and the Operating System, that is, the left button does not work on any application.

I would suggest the scope of the issue needs to be defined.  If the button works fine in Windows explorer or other applications, and only fails to work in say DVS or only in a Console Session window, but not others, that would be useful.  From the description, it appears the issue is anything on the server, accessed remotely or locally. That seems to indicate an issue with the Mouse driver/OS level issue with the mouse pointer.  At the remote station I expect the mouse button works on local apps but has an issue when focus is on the VNC window?  And you say the issue is present "direct on site".  If so, that seems to clearly point to the DVS machine.

A quick Google search reveals this is something commonly found that there are Youtube videos and Windows articles.  Rather than reboot, one fix is to restart Windows File Explorer.  I did not dive too deeply.  The mouse driver runs in the OS and if this gets corrupted restarting the server obviously reloads everything.  Restarting File Explorer appears to also reload the mouse driver, or the issue is with File Explorer functionality and that fixes it.  Hmm.

Does the issue only occur during a VNC session, and then is present on both remote and local mouses, or is that mice, or should I say both mouse buttons...  Does it persist after the VNC session is closed?  The point is if it only happens during a VNC session or upon closing it, VNC may play a role.  Identifying when the issue occurs and when it doesn't would help narrow the source.

Google this issue. expanding the search to include VNC and mouse button not working, there are replies and one posted the following:

Not saying this is your answer, but this seems to be more a VNC or windows issue, especially if it is not constrained to a particular application.

Google is your friend (at least in this case)
