  Emerson says they can provide templates for VMWare for that, and not only for Virtual Studio.

  I am running virtual controllers in both VM workstation pro and on VMware ESXi host - vSphere. Can confirm that Inocencio is right.

  So, my answer was based on theoretical knowledge, yours on practice. Did you have to order the machines from Emerson or were they supplied when requested the virtual controller licenses?

  I ordered the 'DeltaV Virtual Studio Templates for Control Hardware Only (VF1052S006)' from my local Emerson sales representative. We had the proper licenses already so that wasn't a problem for me. If you google on VF1052S006 and find the Emerson Data sheet it even confirms that all templates are provided for DVS and VMware.
