If not monitored, control improvements have a 6 month half-life. In other words, in 6 months the benefit will be reduced by 50% - if you are not monitoring it. This was a topic in a recent discussion I had with James Beall, one of our experts in PID Control as well as Advanced Control Applications, So I am curious, how often does this happened to you at your facility in your operations? How are you monitoring and maintaining your control performance? Are you using such tools as Insight or something else? Or do you just wait until the operators call and complain or you notice that the control is back in manual. Please share your experience on this topic? It would be interesting to see what others observe, see, and/or do?
