Don't let your recent I/O investment stand in the way of taking the next step!

Are you dissatisfied with the performance of your DCS, despite recent investments and upgrades? Often, recent investments in new components like upgraded I/O may feel like a showstopper – preventing you from realizing the operational benefits that a fully modern DCS can provide. In addition, the costs of supporting and maintaining your existing system may by tying you down, while at the same time you are still experiencing the same problems you had before and you are still not seeing the improved results in your operation.

This is a common issue for customers, where an earlier investment restricts your actions to solve what is really the stone in your shoe.

Can it be overcome? Why, yes of course. For example: If you have an aging ABB Legacy DCS where you perhaps a few years ago upgraded a lot of the I/O to s800 I/O at a significant cost, you might be hesitant to just rip all those components that are still in their active phase out and replacing them. That would mean throwing money in the trash, no?

Emerson understands your needs in such cases and have experience in interfacing many different vendors’ I/O with DeltaV. In the case mentioned above, you can keep using your s800 I/O modules and existing field wiring interfacing it natively to DeltaV via PROFIBUS DP. From there you can take advantage of all of the capabilities of a modern DCS, including human centered design, embedded advanced control, integrated batch, simplified system lifecycle management, and all of the other features and benefits that you may need to improve your operations. Your intelligent HART devices can be brought into AMS so you can get the benefits of smart instrumentation as well. And the best part is that all of this is possible without sacrificing your recent I/O investments.
