PCV (pressure control valve) Vs Self-operating pressure regulator

Hi,

I am from Power plant and we are planning to modify gas pipeline with Gas Booster station. for this, Contractor submit a proposal with Self-operating pressure regulator that will use instead of PCV. Kindly let me suggest which arrangement is recommended either with PCV (pressure control valve) or PRV with respect to reliability of whole plant operation wherein plant depends on this selection of Valve (PCV or PRV)?
