Fisher EHT 8 inch with 667 actuator

We have to change the seat and cage in a large (8" EHT) valve for new spare parts and the weight of the valve and bonnet is 2200kg alone plus the actuator.

Question 1 - What is the normal procedure to lift the valve as I presume the lifting lugs on the actuator top is purely to lift the actuator only. If so what is the normal practice to lift the bonnet and valve as no obvious lifting points and the manual does not state.

I believe the actuator material is too thin to handle the lift of the bonnet and valve also

Any advice is welcome..

  • Stu, yes you are correct you should not lift the whole control valve assembly via the actuator lifting lugs. For large valves such as this we would reccomend the use of lifting slings around the valve body/flanges. You can also have additional slings on the actuator for stability and to take weight of the actuator.

    Kind regards
  • Thanks, , you are correct. In addition, it is strongly recommended that this type of work be handled by experienced heavy lifting and rigging crews who have the skill and equipment to safely handle such work.
