Trim material selection

Hello

Emerson or other companies have any chart or table for trim material selection? or any guidelines

Regards

Mohsen

  • Hi Mohsen,

Trim material selection for control valves is dependent on a lot of different factors and isn't easily published in chart/table format. Some of these factors include valve type, process compatibility, design temperature/pressure, body material, trim type, etc. Is there a particular product that you are interested in? Specific product bulletins have detailed information about the availble trim materials for that product. Emerson's Local Business Partners (LBP) are also excellent resources for suggesting appropriate trim materials for their customer's applications.

Attached is ASCO’s Fluid resistance guide for solenoid valves

This is based on 100% concentration and we cannot comment on Chemical mixtures

    Hi

I find this document in internet, may be useful for others

    Control Valve Trim Materials.pdf
  • In reply to Jim Cahill:

    Mohsen,

You may be familiar with the Control Valve Handbook published by Emerson and Fisher... Chapter 5 is devoted to control valve selection and includes sections on body material, trim material, shutoff, sizing, soft parts, process compatibility, etc. It's quite a comprehensive and useful reference document for all control valve applications. Here's the link to the online PDF:

  • Hello Mohsen,

I like to refer to the Cole Parmer website, which includes various materials and chemical concentrations.  I hope this helps!
