pressure regulator Vs volume booster

HI

Is there a difference between pressure regulators and volume boosters ? I know for pressure regulator, we try to control P2 by movement of spring if P2 increases or decreases. what about the volume booster? is it a control device or just a device with no movement inside after the setpoint is set? can someone please clarify this? input vs output and what variable we set as setpoint etc.

Thank you

  • Hello. Volumen booster requieres two inputs : Supply pressure and pressure input signal. The change in output pressure is equal to change in the input signal but this have more airflow. So, volume booster is as with as an air flow amplifier but with the same pressure. This is used in large actuators that requieres shorter travel time.
