API 2000 & Outbreathing gas flow query on the ACE97 bulletin 74.3

Hi,

I have this query from a concerned client and I am at a loss as to how to answer this with respect to the  Gas  Flow table 6

My question refers to the Capacity Information in Bulletin 74.3:ACE97 Pad-Depad
Valve - specifically the Outbreathing Air Flow Rate values in Table 6 on Pg 6.

In Table 6 the required outbreathing flowrates listed in the flash point
<100F column are smaller than the those listed in the flash point >100F
column. This is different to the tables in API 2000 5th ed. and the
documentation for your other vapour recovery valves.

My understanding is that more volatile/low flash point liquids would require a
higher out-breathing rate due to thermal effects than less volatile liquids
with a higher flash point. It's entirely possible that I've missed something
obvious but could there be an error in that the > and < are the wrong way
around in the table?

Thought I should ask the question to you all   for my own education  also  !

  • Hello Jule - thanks for the inquiry! As you guessed, we did indeed reverse the > and < symbols in our table. This will be corrected in the bulletin as soon as possible. My apologies for this error and thank you for bringing it to our attention. Best Regards, Steve Attri - Product Manager
