DVC6200 SIS HART capabilities

Whether Tests like Auto calibration, Step response and valve signature curve be done over HART from AMS (Valve link software). Is there any requirement of minimum current to be supplied from host system to DVC6200 SIS to conduct these test over HART.

We are using DVC6200 SIS for our Shutdown valves, wherein 4mA will close the vale and 20mA will open it.

Can above mentioned test be conducted in shutdown condition i.e. when 4mA is supplied to DVC6200SIS over HART through Valve link software.

Please provide the link if stated anywhere in Emerson document.

  • Hi Rahul,

    In the DVC6200 HW2 Instruction Manual - D103605X012:

    • For auto-calibration - “The analog input signal to the instrument must be greater than 3.8 mA. Adjust the current output from the control system or the current source to provide at least 4.0 mA.”
    - This shows that with 4.0 mA, the DVC6200 has enough power to allow ValveLink to fully stroke the valve for calibration. This can be applied to step responses tests and valve signatures. As long as the device has 4 mA, it would be able to carry out these functions. However for the Valve Signature and Step Response, there will be a prompt recommending 6.0 mA, this is not a necessity, but a recomendation.

    • For SIS - Partial Stroke Testing- “A partial stroke test can be initiated when the valve is operating at either 4 or 20 mA (point‐to‐point mode).”

I hope this answers your question.
The document can be downloaded from our website. Just google - D103605X012.
