New High-Pressure Rosemount 4088 MultiVariable Transmitters Available for Gas Lift Applications

The 4088 MV transmitter product line has recently expanded to include sensors capable of accurately measuring high static pressures. These transmitters are an accurate, cost effective way to measure gas flow for a well using Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques where line pressure can reach 6k, or even 10k psi. Any high-pressure application poses many challenges including safety, accuracy, and reliability. Safety, first and foremost, is the primary concern for high pressure. Pressures in the ranges of 6k and 10k psi carry large amounts of energy that, if not properly contained, has potential to endanger maintenance personal. Ensuring pressure retention with a safety factor is key to ensuring a safe product.

The new high static pressure multivariable sensor increases the 4088 static pressure limit from 3626 psi (250 bar) to 6092 psi (420 bar). This sensor still measures differential pressure (DP), static pressure (SP), and process temperature (PT) and utilizes Emerson’s standard CoplanarTm platform.

The Rosemount 4088 is also available with a DP sensor that can accurately measure at a 10k PSI line pressure. The DP ranges available with this static pressure are 250 inH2O, 700 inH2O, and 150 psi. Measuring a small difference in pressure at a high line pressure is very difficult. Typically, when a transmitter is suitable to withstand 10k psi it has thicker diaphragms and deeper welds that make it less sensitive to slight pressure changes. The Rosemount high pressure sensors can measure at 0.075% of span accuracy on the Rosemount 4088.

The Rosemount 4088 offers a flexible architecture that includes several different sensors and connections, making it available with manifolds, primary elements and seal systems. As users begin to utilize new EOR techniques and higher static pressures, Emerson continues to support the expanded needs of the industry with transmitters capable of measuring DP at even higher static pressures. The Emerson portfolio contains transmitters that will accurately measure DP at line pressures of 6092, 10k, and up to 15k psi. Gage and absolute static pressure measurement devices are currently available up to 20k psi.
