Clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter - Custody Transfer

Dear Experts
I am working on an pipeline project, there are 3 pump stations. Each pump stations will have a Flow Meter Unit - Custody Transfer. However, the customer update his P&IDs and wants to consider an Clamp-On Ultrasonic Flowmeter.

Could you give me any advices or guidelines to know it's possible apply this required technology also if is it adequate for Custody Transfer?

I look forward to your comments or suggestions

Best regards

The use of camp on meters for custody transfer has been discourage for a couple reasons. Firstly the goal of a fiscal meter is to repeat the measurement over long periods of time, the fact that clamp-on meters are clamped onto the pipe and not secured makes it very difficult to maintain the integrity of the measurement over time. Secondly clamp-on meters must send their beams through the center of the pipe, this is the most unstable area in the flow regime. The use of multi-path ultrasonic meters that measure at different planes along the flowing profile allow for the integration of these individual measurements enabling the meter to compensate for changes in the flow profile due to changes in process conditions. Hopefully this helps, if you have any other questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact us at your convenience.
