smoke detection in analyzer house

HI

have a question around fire detection in the analyzer houses. we have installed in the analyzer house air particle monitor and oil mist detector (one device meant for fire/smoke detection). 

interested to know if i can use a normal type smoke detector instead of the attached one.  Is there a guideline that obliges a specific smoke detector type in the analyzer houses.  Looking for some clarifications on this please.

  Dear Yassin,
  I'll be happy to offer some guidance if you can let me know where the end destination is. Smoke detection is subject to many international performance standards and in order to give you an informed reply I need this information.

  With regards to smoke detection, there are many companies that make intrinsically safe optical detectors that should be suitable for your application. If you are more interested in Oil Mist detection then the APM is the only hazardous area certified point-type detector on the marked that I'm aware of.

  Hi Yassin,
  The End User or project specifications normally detail their preferences. I would normally expect smoke detection to be employed along with manual call points. Oil mist detection is usually used around rotating machinery.
