4 Exciting Enhancements to the Micro Motion F-Series Coriolis Flow and Density Meters

coriolis-flow-meters-oil-gasOver the past year, our Micro Motion F-Series Coriolis Flow Meters have experienced a series of exciting updates. This family of compact, versatile flow meters provides highly accurate mass flow, volume flow, and density measurements in a wide variety of line sizes. At Emerson, we’re dedicated to continuously improving our products to ensure they will always solve our customer’s biggest challenges. With these latest updates, our Micro Motion F-series continues to be the preferred choice for reliable flow measurement in critical process control applications.

Superior Entrained Air Performance from the F300, 3-Inch Coriolis Meter

A compact, low-weight design and more robust performance make our top-of-the-line F300 better than ever. All flow meters have difficulty with entrained gas – for example, volumetric flow meters will overreport the amount of liquid in a mixture by counting the volume of the gas as part of the volume of the liquid. Mass flow meters are necessary to accurately measure the amount of liquid in these mixture applications. The new enhanced F300 was designed with lower frequency to minimize errors caused by entrained gas.

State-of-the-Art Software Upgrade

There are many advantages to having a flow meter with industry-leading diagnostic capabilities. Our entire F-Series product family has now standardized on the 800 Enhanced Core Processor, which enables the sensor to be paired with our most advanced electronics and software options such as the 5700 transmitter and Smart Meter Verification. The 800 Enhanced Core Processor also provides expanded meter functionality through improved empty-full-empty performance, faster electronic processing, and unmatched entrained air capability.

Sweeping Specification Improvements

The new and improved specification across the Micro Motion F-Series product family make these meters ideal for any critical measurement application. F-Series can now provide up to ±0.05% mass flow accuracy on liquids, up to ±0.0005 g/cm3 density accuracy, and an out-of-the-box ±0.35% mass flow accuracy on gases. Additionally, new and improved zero stability specifications enable wider turndown ratios on every meter.

New Possibilities with the F400, 4-Inch Line Size

Last (and far from least) on our list is the launch of our new F400 Coriolis flow meter. We are proud to expand the capabilities of the F-Series product family with the addition of this compact, high performance 4-inch meter.

The F400 boasts a low-weight design of 180 pounds and can handle flow rates up to 16,000 lbs/min. This meter was designed with low operating frequency to enable superior performance even in the presence of entrained air. This perfect balance of flow rate capacity and compact design makes the F400 ideal for many applications – for example, our oil field services customers who need a reliable measurement solution for their wellbore cementing process. To ensure the safety of their wells and to limit environmental impact, this process involves pumping cement directly into the well casing after drilling to seal it off and provide structural support to the well. Mounted on trucks between the tank and high-pressure pump, these meters need to have a large enough flow rate capacity to handle this abrasive cement application.

Currently, operators rely on volumetric flow technologies to estimate how much cement is being pumped downhole. Because this method does not measure mass directly, it can result in either wasted product or unstable well conditions. Now, with our new F400 meter, our customers can directly measure mass flow and density to monitor how much cement is being pumped into the well. The F400 is the perfect solution for these tricky but crucial applications.
