Emerson Exchange 365

Hello All,

I am looking for front panel controls/I-O ports information for an Emerson single board controller with the part number "GE 0555N(X)Q(X)G132A-(XX)-V2.4" or some variation of this part number pictured above.
Specifically the two Hex switches labeled "MSB" and "LSB" that are above the 2nd from the left DB-9 connector.
I am almost positive these stand for "Most Significant Byte" and "Least Significant Byte" which would seam to mean each switch control 8 bits.
However it appears that each switch only controls 4 bits that each define half of the hexadecimal value that is used to create the 4th octet of an IP address.
Does the "B" in "MSB" and "LSB" really mean byte and this is just the use of a legacy term and the switches do not actually control 8 bits?
Does anyone have information on this? 
I am creating some training material and do not want to just assume the "B" is for byte.
