.NET Framework on build 1607

Wondering if anyone has installed .NET Framework 4.7.2 or 4.8 on either Server 2016 or Windows 10 (both 1607) on y our DeltaV nodes

From what I can see in Server 2016 and windows 10 build 1607 the update is Microsoft KB4054590 for 4.7.2 and KB4486129 for 4.8, but neither of these show up in the list of MS KB Numbers on Guardian as either available for install or Do not Install. I cant find if either of these are bundled into another KB anywhere, or a security bulletin. Not sure why they are not showing in Guardian as either As Needed or Do Not Install

I have third party software that requires .NET 4.8 that needs to run on one of my app stations.

Thoughts?

  • .NET Framework 4.7.2 is programmatically installed on Win10 & Server 2016 OSes when DeltaV v14.LTS (aka v14.3.1) or v14.FP1 (aka v14.5.1) is installed.

.NET Framework 4.8 is programmatically installed on Server 2016 OS when FP2 Updater is applied to an Application Station with Advanced Continuous Historian.

Do you know if there is any issue installing 4.8 as a standalone om FP2, without ACH? But with CH
  • Yes, I did and did not noticed any issue.
Do you have issues after installing 4.8??
  • In reply to gamella:

Looks like not supported as 4.8 but is for 4.72 once running at least LTS

That table shows what .NET Framework version was included as part of that DeltaV version's install.

    That being said:
    * The FP2 Updater programmatically installs .NET Framework 4.8 on any Application Station that has Advanced Continuous Historian. And anyone who has DeltaV Operate/Embedded Trend Charts or DeltaV Live/Charts on their ProfessionalPlus or Operator Stations accessing historical data from ACH needs to install PI AF Client 2018 (which installs .NET Framework 4.8).
    * Knowledge Base Article NK-2000-0659 discusses software updates regarding the OSIsoft PI security vulnerabilities that affected the DeltaV Advanced Continuous Historian. The solution provided was a newer version of PI that can be installed on v14.FP1, v14.LTS and v13.3.1 (on Server 2016 OS). That newer version of PI installs .NET Framework 4.8 on any Application Station that has Advanced Continuous Historian, and anyone who has DeltaV Operate/Embedded Trend Charts or DeltaV Live/Charts on their ProfessionalPlus or Operator Stations accessing historical data from ACH needs to install PI AF Client 2018 (which installs .NET Framework 4.8).
