Popups appear on "wrong" screen, concealed by PHV. W10 Dell 5810 Workstations don't have "Hydravision" loaded . . .

For some time various windows and IFIX dialog popups have been appearing on the top monitor, regardless of where the error was generated. For example "No such parameter in module", or "a running script encountered an error", or "Parameter not configured (typically a temporary condition). Unfortunately, Process History View is usually open in "always on top" mode and has to be moved to clear the error dialog box, during which time the operator interface is unresponsive. This can be befuddling for inexperienced operators.

"Hydravision" used to address this but it is no longer loaded on DeltaV workstations. I believe the top monitor is "required" to be the primary (as seen by Windows) and this is most likely why the dialogs appear there. Is it possible to make them all appear on "Monitor 2"?

  • Windows 10 Machines require the use of a 3rd Party software called "Actual Multiple Monitors". Microsoft modified Win10 in a way that obsoleted Hydravision's mechanism of controlling new windows placement.
