AMS device Manager install

We recently started an install AMS 14.1

We install the Server+ first and then the ProPlus (wheren the Client is install). The issue we had was that the Server+ was in a domain and the Client was not. We still having issues connecting between Server+ and Proplus(Client) (Deltav).

After thinking that was an issue we remove the PC (Server+) out of the domain (now a workgroup) to be the same as the Proplus(Client). These two are separated by a Firewall. We open all the necessary ports, so we can ping the two. On the Server+ everything seems to be working but is on the Proplus we are having problems. 

We contacted the technical support but they told us that this architecture is not supported since there is not domain.

Can someone have a similar setup ? Also, on both PCs we added the same User and Pass.

  • When you moved the AMS ServerPlus to a workgroup, did you uninstall AMS Client on the Pro+ and reinstall it?

    Another thing, did you ping they system by ip address or PC name? Sometime pinging the IP address work but the PC name don't work and will cause this issue. AMS DM uses PC Name to connect to it's client.

    I don't think I did this. Is there is a need to do this? Is there a document about this setup (no-domain)

    I pinged by ip address and PC name and both work well.

    It is pretty straight forward with non-domain installation. the trick is when you install AMS client, it asks for the ServerPlus name. So if you already installed AMS client, its still looking for that PC Name. When you convert your AMS ServerPlus PC from domain to non-domain, this is a big change and your AMS Client might be having some issues. This is why I asked if you reinstall the AMS Client station to make sure everything get in alignment for proper AMS operation.

    There are several things you might want to check if the ping are working.

    • License: do you have at lease one Client license
    • DeltaV Network is setup properly in ServerPlus station
    • Client station is setup in AMS ServerPlus station
    • Check Network Port and wiring are properly setup
